One afternoon this month, several of our Youngers were working together diligently after homework and before Circle Time. They were in the back area of our Kids’ Korner space that is usually the “Play Kitchen Area”. They were occupied, focused, quiet, and working as a team. Every once in a while a child would come out from the space and retrieve “more paper”…or “another glue stick”… or “crayons or colored pencils” by the order of another child in the group.
From a staff member perspective, it was one of those “if it a’int broke don’t fix it” type of moments. We let them continue uninterrupted until Circle Time. Then, with the hustle and bustle of the day… we didn’t think about the “mystery project” in the back of the room. The next morning when I was cleaning up the site, I found an Angry Bird mural in the middle of the carpet. It is now hanging on our bulletin board for all to see. Just another fine example of Team Work Making the Dream Work.
