The Reading Rocks Book Club for Olders has started a new book, Indian in the Cupboard by Lynne Reid Banks. This is the third Reading Rocks Book Club since the start of this school year.  Other books shared were The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Frank Baum and The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery.  Each Older is given a new copy of the book to keep!  This is actually the second school year that we have offered the Reading Rocks Book Club for Olders.  Children are encouraged (but not required) to read the books on their own time. Once a week, the children complete enrichment activities that are based on themes within the book. The goal of this club is to expose the kids to GREAT children’s literature and foster a love of reading for pleasure.

The first day of each club is spent creating a customized bookmark based on the book.  For the current story, the children were instructed to create a bookmark that depicts a toy that they wish could become real.

Genesis and Jazlynn start reading their new books together, "popcorn reading."

Christopher shows off his new book and cool bookmark. He wishes his toy plane could really fly.
